How Employers Benefit from the Gig Economy

By Anistar Technologies | Contractors, Employers, Hiring | Comments are Closed | 22 June, 2017 | 1

Professionals around the globe are enjoying the benefits of the gig economy. Contractors experience a greater level of flexibility and freedom over their work. But what about the companies who employ these temporary or contract workers?

In many ways, employers are just as excited about the opportunity to take advantage of project-based and contract-based opportunities. What’s more, when they partner with a staffing or recruiting firm, companies can experience numerous benefits of this new world of work.

Hit the Ground Running

Partnering with a staffing firm to find contract workers allows a company to ramp up quickly without a large investment of its own resources. You don’t have to be the expert on hiring and finding tech professionals or cabling experts and you won’t waste money on hunting them down. You can tap into a network that’s already built when you hire a recruiting firm.

Get your project started without spending all your time and money on recruiting, interviewing and performing background checks. Plus, if your project only lasts four to six weeks, you don’t need to spend the resources to staff a full-time team to get the job done.

Outsourcing HR

A recruiting firm like Anistar is a one-stop shop; we offer recruiting, background checks, drug testing and payroll services. Instead of hiring a full-time HR staff, or overworking your current team for short-term projects, Anistar is able to find you the team you need start-to-finish.

While you may be an expert in your field, recruiters know where to look for the right people. Some job posting sites can cost hundreds and thousands of dollars and still not reach the people you need. Recruiters are constantly growing and expanding their networks and have experience with the websites and tools that bring results. When you hire recruiters, you gain access to that knowledge and network.

For sites like Indeed, Monster and LinkedIn, it’s often more cost-efficient to buy job postings in bulk. If you need to fill only a handful of jobs, you won’t get your money’s worth. This is another way to save money and reach more people by using a recruiting company.

Hiring the wrong people costs a lot of money, too. Besides the initial HR costs that go to waste, hiring replacement workers and paying for rework adds up quickly. This alone makes working with recruiters for their short- and long-term projects worth it for many companies.

Constant Improvement

The gig economy allows for constant improvement. If you believe, like we do, that people are your greatest asset, hiring temporary or temp-to-contract workers is a great way to build a stronger team with fewer risks. For example, if you hire three temp workers and one really stands out, you can let the first two go at the end of their contract while hanging on to the standout employee. You may even decide to take this person on as a full-time employee; it’s up to you. The other two contractors will simply move on when the contract ends, leaving you without the hassle of firing workers that aren’t the right fit.

You have more options to grow and improve without the risk. It’s a way to “try before you buy” and the recruiting company takes care of the “firing” when things don’t work out.

More Options

Recruiting firms often specialize in specific fields so your company can work with experts to find exactly what and who you need to succeed. Some specialize in certain industries or simply know a geographical location really well. Don’t waste your time writing job descriptions that won’t be seen or hunting on websites with the wrong candidates. Leave that work to those who know the area.

Focused recruiters can also offer specialized recruitment tools such as motor vehicle reports, financial background checks and 5- or 10-panel drug screenings.

The gig economy is succeeding because both employers and professionals benefit from the experience. Whether you need to staff a whole project, or need some extra hands on deck, a recruiting firm is a low-risk, cost-efficient way to do it.
