Location: Austin, TX
Job Summary:
The Building Automation and Controls Technician position will primarily be responsible for Building Automated Systems maintenance and repairs.
Essential Functions:
- Highly skilled in a variety of disciplines involving the electrical field and intermediate to advanced mechanical aptitude
- High safety awareness and knowledge of OSHA requirements especially in a Maritime environment
- Electrical construction skills that include, but are not limited to: conduit pipe threading, installing raceways, pulling wire, splicing and terminating devices.
- Ability to safely work with electrical equipment of voltages 480 VAC and lower
- Ability to use multiple types of electrical multi-meters including circuit tracers, megohmmeters, and utility locating equipment
- Ability to use, refer to, and adhere to the most recent National Electrical Code
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair advanced control systems for lighting and HVAC
- Ability to troubleshoot automated equipment through the use of a laptop computer and remote connections
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project schedules in high pressure environment
- Ability to safely operate high reach boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, large trucks with trailers, and other large construction related equipment.
- Ability to safely operate all power tools and equipment utilized in electrical, construction repair, installation of hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, diagnosis and troubleshooting systems
- Essential communication by use of cell phones, 2-way radios, telephone, and computers
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Any experience with hands-on electrical/mechanical maintenance or service experience in an industrial/heavy commercial environment or with industrial equipment
- Automation controls and equipment experience including PLC technician experience and software knowledge and diagnosis
- Building Automation knowledge required
- Must have excellent blueprint and electrical schematic/ladder logic comprehension skills
- Networking experience and use of networked systems a plus
- Must have a superior record of attendance
- Hours may include some overtime and weekends
- Must be a team player able to perform in a fast paced environment, be flexible and a self starter, and work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills are preferred
