3 Ways Data Centers Are Being Digitally Transformed

By Anistar Technologies | Careers, Employee Resources, Technology | Comments are Closed | 30 April, 2019 | 1

By now you’ve likely heard of companies going through a digital transformation. This buzzword simply means organizations are shifting away from manual information systems and adopting completely automated and digital processes. Different technology impacts the way data centers function, so every data center technician is required to adapt and make adjustments along the way. Here are a few of the main technologies that play a significant role in the digital transformation of data centers across the country.

    Supporting Internet of Things (IoT)

As more companies adopt IoT policies and procedures, data center installers will have to plan for more connected devices than ever before. The main challenge with supporting millions of devices throughout the country is having enough bandwidth to increase reliability and prevent latency. One way data center installers are accomplishing this is to process data closer to the source to reduce the distance needed to travel to meet the data demands. The adoption of IoT isn’t going to slow down any time soon, so data centers are having to be transformed rapidly as a result.

    Incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence is another concept that has slowly started creeping into normal business processes. AI used to require a significant amount of storage and bandwidth, but resources have changed to the point where AI is more feasible than it has ever been. A data center engineer still must alter their processes significantly, which often means shifting more toward edge computing. The benefits of edge computing as they relate to artificial intelligence include faster data analysis, quicker information feedback and increased network performance overall.

Increased Bandwidth To Support Virtual Reality (VR)

A data center technician is also tasked with ensuring there’s enough bandwidth in a data center to handle a company’s virtual reality needs. As virtual reality becomes more relied upon, meeting data demands are essential. Some companies use virtual reality for remote training purposes by streaming video to multiple users. Unreliable connections, bandwidth problems or latency issues can render the entire experience useless, so a data center engineer must tailor the bandwidth capacity to meet the specific needs of the company. Higher speeds for networks will be the likely result of this demand, and we are already beginning to see them with the creation of 5G networks.

Anistar Technologies keeps up with all of the latest trends and developments as they relate to data centers. We are constantly communicating with data center installers to learn what demands consumers have when it comes to data. The roles of data center technicians have changed significantly over the years, which has resulted in them needing a wide range of experience and expertise. Digital transformations are only going to continue for the foreseeable future, so contact us today to learn more.
